For this black handmade leather wrap journal, I let the leather tell me how it wanted to fall. As with so many of my projects, I don’t start out with a final product in mind, I just “punt” as they say. This piece of leather had previously been folded, so I just went with it and tried to figure out how I could use that to my advantage. As it turned out, I was able to use one whole piece of leather (the wrap included). I attached a small piece with brads, that would hold the wrap and serve as a closure, but other than that, it’s just one solid piece of leather. I think it turned out very unique. What do you think?
I left all the rough, uneven edges just as they were.
This is the back of the journal.
The pages are cut to follow the contour of the leather, they angle up.
I have a load of leather just waiting to be made into some unique project. When you have scraps and they are all different shapes and sizes, it can be a fun challenge to come up with something unique and useful with them. My wheels are always turning and I’m sure there will be more projects soon.
From this pile of various sizes and pieces, came the little Black Handmade Leather Wrap Journal.
What could you visualize from this pile of scraps?
